Mixed Fermentation Buckwheat Saison collaboration w/ Amory's Tomb, aged in wine barrels.

Shadow Hand was brewed in collaboration with our friends Amory’s Tomb Brewing Co. We used malts from both Ohio and New England as well as buckwheat and aged hops. Fermented and aged in wine barrels with mixed cultures from both breweries, this saison displays a beautiful funk aroma with low acidity on the palate.

16.9 ounce bottle, no dating that I noticed on the bottle or label. Served in a Teku, the beer pours a slightly hazy pale gold color with about an inch or so white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like funk, citrus (more lemony), white grape, buckwheat, earthiness and some straw/hay. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak, peach and apricot flavors. Nice amount of tartness. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, certainly worth a try if you come across some!
