Pale straw in color. Subtle aromas of sweet, starchy sushi rice, light pilsner malt and lemon blossoms. Remarkably clean and balanced. Lively effervescence and a dry finish make for an exceptionally refreshing beer.

Wow, a surprisingly delicious lager! Had a pint by the pool/in the hot tub at The Lodge at Torrey Pines on a lovely Sunday. Super smooth, great malt bill, touch of fruity hops. Would drink again!

Now things are making more sense - this is a Rice Lager! And, well, Raul prefers his rice as a piece of sushi, ya feel me? Like, I’m all down for a Rice Lager when I’m getting loose on some yellow tail - but on a random subtle day at home? Not feeling it. To your man main, I think Rice Lagers are more of a compliment to your meal (the beer shouldn’t be the star of the show because the food should be). This moment for me is like getting pumped up to see Queen B during the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but instead of Queen B, the camera primarily stays on Katy Perry. Someone that’s not my cup of tea, but at least she’s not Liptons.
Feel it, my children. Do your best and just try and feel it.

Attractive clear golden brew with a splash of foam, but it dissipates in the tall tulip. Light and sharpish mouthfeel with a wee tingle of carbonation. If they say it's made with rice I can believe it. Modest beery aroma but on exhaling there is a distinct nose of rice.
Pleasant cereal taste and a citrusy note. Overall quite pleasant though it could use a creamier, more exuberant carbonation. From the 16 oz can purchased at the brewery tap by the sport fishing docks.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: Japanese Rice Lager
Glass: Beer Nerd 12-oz. tulip
Price: $2.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: May 29, 2020
Consumed: June 7, 2020
Misc.: Canned on May 6, 2020
Spent way too much money on a bunch of beer from North Park Beer Company, Windmill Farms and Bine & Vine. Woof. Was surprised I hadn’t had this before. Description from their website read, “Pale straw in color. Subtle aromas of sweet, starchy sushi rice, light pilsner malt and lemon blossoms. Remarkably clean and balanced.” A lager from Eppig? Yeah, this is going to be good.
Poured a pale yellow clear color with one finger of off-white fizzy head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Below average spotty lacing. Very bad retention. (Sight - 3.00)
Smelled salty rice, sourdough bread, lemon zest, mown grass, corn cereal and toasted biscuit. More of the same from the can, maybe slightly better. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted even better than the nose. In order got salty rice, mown grass, hay, sourdough bread, Corn Flakes, lemon zest, toasted biscuit and lingering peppery spice. (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Dry, abrupt finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Still new to the Japanese Rice Lager style, but I really liked this. This was excellent. (Overall - 4.25)
