Deep, rich aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, cola. Full-bodied, silky mouthfeel, and a lingering, cigar-like finish. The perfect “warmer upper” for a cool evening lounging in a cozy living room.

Glass: Tioga-Sequoia 13-oz. tulip
Price: $2.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 26, 2020
Consumed: Jan. 13, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Dec. 2, 2020
Grabbed this and 10 other singles when I planned to go to Windmill Farms for two other 6-packs (I still got those). Eppig’s website called it “Deep, rich aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, cola. Full-bodied, silky mouthfeel, and a lingering, cigar-like finish. The perfect “warmer upper” for a cool evening lounging in a cozy living room.”
Poured a pittch-black color with three fingers of khaki-tan frothy head. Pretty calm setting underneath the head. Decent watery lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled dark chocolate, bitter black coffee beans, dark fudge, cacao, black licorice, anise, toasted grain and roasty malts. Not as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste was about as good as the nose. In order got bitter black coffee, dark chocolate, dark fudge, black licorice, anise, char wood, molasses, toasted grain, roasty malts and hints of cacao. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, roasty finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Damn. Really liked this one. So much flavor for just a 5-percent ABV stout. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

Handsome velvety dark brown brew with rings of fine-grained beige foam in the big stout glass. Velvety texture with plenty of spritz on the tongue. Grainy aroma. Dark roasted malt with a burnt note. Very pleasant quaffing.
Rather dry, but more malty than the Irish-style stouts. Moderate bitter aftertaste finally catches up, along with that charred edge. From the 16 oz can purchased at Eppig's bayside tap. Dated 12/2/20 on the bottom.
