This dark German lager is very sessionable. German pilsner malt and de-bittered roasted malts are added to build complexity. All German hops create a clean delicate bitterness to balance the malt bill perfectly.

Glass: Burgeon .5L pilsner glass
Price: $2.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 26, 2020
Consumed: Jan. 15, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Dec. 21, 2020
Grabbed this and 10 other singles when I planned to go to Windmill Farms for two other 6-packs (I still got those). Had this once before, giving a taster a 4.00 on Untappd on June 27, 2019 and writing “Outstanding for the style because Eppig.” Online description was “This dark German lager is very sessionable. German pilsner malt and de-bittered roasted malts are added to build complexity. All German hops create a clean delicate bitterness to balance the malt bill perfectly.”
Poured a pittch-black color with 3-to-4 fingers of khaki-tan frothy head. Calm setting underneath the head. Very good spotty lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled baker’s chocolate, cocoa, medium roasted malt, coffee, toast and light ashtray. Nowhere as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose, maybe not as much chocolate. In order got medium roast, baker’s chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, semi-char wood and light ashtray. (Taste - 4.00)
Light body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, roasty finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Really liked this one. Probably underrated it slightly overall, but it was outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)
