Went to Windmill Farms to pick up some stuff for Sam and saw this one. An online description was “We amped up our fan favorite dark german lager to 6.6% ABV - Bold, Roasty and Smooth!”
Poured a very dark color with two fingers of khaki-white head. Could see a lot of different bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent uneven foamy lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled burnt coffee beans, dark cacao, roasted malts, black licorice, bark and lingering black pepper. A little better out of the can with the addition of dark fruit. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got coffee beans, dark cacao, roasted malts, black licorice, burnt bark, plum, red apple, dark fruit and lingering black pepper. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Just another solid offering from Eppig. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

Dark brown, near black, with abundant beige foam in the snifter. Malt and chocolate aromas. Lush and susdy mouthfeel, which improves this burnt-around-the edges style. Some malty sweetness, a dose of caramel, and a grainy finish. This is rather rich, more like a Porter, than the usual think black Schwartzbier. Quite drinkable and plenty strong. From the 32 oz crowler can purchased at the San Diego tasting room.

Nice little find at a liquor in Poway. Glad to see this with limited distribution. Drank it straight from the can . Nice blend of light roast and caramel with medium carbonation. i can drink this all day .
