tart saison with blood oranges, really cool beer, maybe the most sour one i have had from these guys, but radiant with the fruit, just delicious, it was so cool to visit this place, i have been a fan of their beers ever since they started popping up around here a few years ago! sunny golden brew with a soft haze to it and a nice inch of creamy white head from the tap, a little bacterial tang in the nose along with bitter orange peel and some acidity from the fruit, still some of their earthy spicy saison yeast in play it seems, and some floral character too. the flavor of this is great, its built on what must be white wheat and pils malt, fresh as can be, somewhat earthy, dry, crackery, crisp even, almost a lager thing to this underneath the fruit and fermentation character. the orange is awesome, some sweetness and floral character from the flesh up front and on top of the grain, then the bitterness and essential oil character of the zest, all crazy natural and really bold, even more so in the taste than the smell. lemony pucker to the finish but not super acidic, some white wine character to the yeast along with white pepper and an almost belgian wrinkle, the finish is real dry, bubbly, and fast, so this drinks refreshing for being sour. really neat beer overall, great execution on this and a cool showcase of these sexy oranges. neat to get a little more of a sour beer from these guys too, super well refined and dialed in. delicious!
