2022 bottling (released on 5/28/22, so presumably bottled within a few days of that date); consumed on 8/9/22
Pours a sludgy, jet-black body crawling into the glass and capped with a slight half-finger of creamy, hazelnut-hued foam failing to fully form, leaving a rich, frothy collar and no lacing whatsoever holding to the walls of the glass.
Aroma bursts forth with massive maple overtones and deft shades of vanilla influence; chocolatey roast is spread across the bouquet as freshly roasted coffee is a firmly interwoven detail against the steady bourbon backdrop; exceedingly rich to the immediate senses.
Taste shows creamy vanilla soaking maple for a subtle buttercream frosting vibe soon warming with punchy bourbon as a soft, oaky prickle grazes the mid-palate; melted marshmallow balanced with cocoa roast on the back end, leaving coffee resounding through the finish.
Mouthfeel highlights an intense viscosity, a full body weighing down any sense of carbonation prior to slick textures and a building warmth coursing over the mid-palate; a subtle, prickly grit is perceptible on the back end before finding a level creaminess on the finish.
Thick chocolate and a bright coffee sheen partially cut the immense, syrupy viscosity of an otherwise brazenly saccharine breakfast stout; minor roast eases adjuncted excess in a barrel-aged stout best shared for full enjoyment.
