For our 100th batch, we loaded a beer full of our favorite hops! This double NEIPA is brewed with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy and then dry hopped with Cryo Citra, Cryo Mosaic and Galaxy.

ONE PINT can
Served in an oversized, stemless wine glass

This beer pours a dull yellow color and is turbid. It is topped with a couple inches of beige, pillowy head that leaves spotty lacing.

Tropical and citrus notes. The citrus builds as it warms.

Tropical flavor upfront. Citrus follows. Mild flavors overall

Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel

I am a big Arvon fan. This is yet another excellent IPA from them.

This was the fourth brew that I ordered on Tavour not too long ago, as I never had anything from Arvon before. Saw that their offerings were rated highly on here, and that this was a style that's easy to find in these parts. Indeed, this measured up well to local iterations as there was plenty of soft fruit, dank hops, and haze to be had here!

Turbid in appearance, this peachy beer was somewhat milky, topped off with a full head, and left behind a decent amount of lacing as I worked my way through it. Thin rings stuck around near the top of my glass with a moderate amount of scattered suds below that. Melon, dank green hops, deep forest, and earthy citrus filled the nose as the taste was just as hop-forward, but without any overt bitterness. The Galaxy and Mosaic were in full force here as some subtle stone fruit, tangerine pith, and fruit cocktail came into play once this fully warmed up. Basic malt and light carbonation ensured that this would be full-bodied with the flavors lingering for the duration.

Plenty of booze here and I warmed up easily before finishing this off, although I never tasted it on my breath. No date was to be found anywhere on the can but I loved the label design, down to the "Made in MI" insignia and Mackinac Bridge. Lots to like here as this was a great, local take on a style that needs to be brewed in more of the country. Worth a find if you're in Michigan!

As a malt-head embittered by the plethora of IPAs that I could not like enough, I welcomed the NEIPA fad as it burst on the brewing scene a few years ago. But I tired of the fad's tendency to get extreme and retreated to my malty stuff. But with this NEIPA from Arvon (a three year old micro), I feel the style could well be maturing and I should pay more attention.

Profound Technique has a balanced bitterness in the finish that, to me, shows more maturity; mimicking the old vaudeville show technique of "leave them smiling." If I can finish an IPA and still smile, I might return.

Profound Looks only slightly above average. Its Smells are tropical, but what lingers is hard tree fruit such as apples and pears. Tastes are refreshing and balance... and a well-concealed alcohol (which helps explains the very high average ratings for what is a good NEIPA, though not a 4.37.)

As for Avon, 215 active beers on BA is impressive for a three year old. I went on their website and did not find much on their history or motivations. But very prominently, they have devised a new delivery system that covers about 3/4 of the people in Michigan. And if this turns out to a new distribution strategy for the industry, then they deserve my 4.25 Overall Hugs.
