Pint at Valley Brewing Company for four dollars, consumed 8/8/08 on our way up to Redding, reviewed from notes
A-Clear golden yellow color, 1 1/4 bubbly white head, stuck around for a minute or so not much retention, some lacing at the beginning
S-Sweetness first, floral hoppiness, lemons, bread, faint grapefruit, red apples, herbs, and suprisingly a hint of booze
T-Starts off pretty sweet, some apples and other fruit in the middle, finish is more malty than hoppy, needed to be drier to provide some balance there but still somehow worked, got sweeter time went on, lots of bread later and had a hint of Belgian yeast in the aftertaste
M-Slighty sweet, hot, and chewy mouthfeel, could use more carbonation, medium bodied, thicker looking than Saisons 2 and 3, taste lingers
D-Could drink a pint or two of this, slightly heavy on the stomach, smooth for the most part, taste is strong for its ABV though
This beer started as Hitman Gold and then was fermented at 75 degrees, my least favorite of the three in the special Saison series at Valley, just tasted a lot hotter than the others, will not have the chance to drink again, still worth trying if it is still there
