Saison Sisters: Sarah Fruited Belgian Saison uses Blood Orange.
A: Pours a hazy orange color, with a one finger white head. Light lace is left behind.
S: Orange and citrus rind. Just a touch of phenolic aroma and peppery spice.
T: Juicy tart orange up front, which is actually very nice and balanced initially. Again, just a touch of phenolic and peppery spice characters. This becomes much sweeter in the finish.
M/O: A medium body with crisp carbonation. The blood orange does make this refreshing, but wish there was a drier finish. The ABV is not particularly noticeable either.
While I do enjoy the blood orange character, it needs to be a little more balanced for me, especially in the finish. Having more noticeable phenols and peppery spice would help that. As is, its a nice fruit beer.
