Another example of Die Bierothek doing my hunting for me.
A fruity, funky saison that is enjoyable and interesting... but also could have a better cultivated yeast to be more than average in its style and to complement a variety of foods.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden coloration with a large, creamy, lasting head and visible carbonation. Smell is fruity and funky with notes of blue cheese, sweat, gooseberry and just a hint of passion fruit and doughy malt. Taste is dominated by sweaty funk and hoppy notes of gooseberry and passion fruit, with somewhat subdued yeast esters of tart green apple/clove and some doughy malt coming through as well. Finishes tart and funky, with some green apple notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light body and carbonation.
There's a little too much going on here, without this quite finding its center. Still a decent balance, despite the funky/hoppy notes somewhat drowing out those yeast esters. Nice enough in its own way though, although a little light-bodied.
