Name: Albion
Brewery: T.F. Brewing
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Style: Trippel
ABV: 10.2%
Canned: 12 December 2025
Date: 18 May 2026
Initial Impression:
Albion instantly reminded me of the little town in Idaho I used to pass through as a kid on trips to “the big city”—or at least what felt like a big city back then. I’ve had several beers from T.F. Brewing at this point, and every time I do, I find myself wanting to explore more of their lineup.
Appearance:
Served at 52°F in a tulip glass. The pour created an airy, frothy white head about a finger thick with above-average retention. Slow dissipation left a healthy amount of lacing behind. The beer pours pale yellow with light golden hues (SRM ~6), is brilliantly carbonated, and is lively in the glass—a beautiful presentation for a Tripel.
Aroma:
Yeast-forward with a soft supporting malt backbone. Classic Belgian phenolics and esters lead the nose—white pepper, banana, clove, lemon, and floral notes reminiscent of rose and jasmine. A touch of fresh grassiness adds brightness.
The malt profile stays delicate and supportive, bringing lightly toasted bread, cracker, and subtle malt sweetness without competing with the expressive yeast character.
Flavor:
Balanced and elegantly structured. The yeast profile drives the beer with banana, clove, white pepper, lemon, bay leaf, rose, jasmine, and light herbal grassiness. The floral and peppery notes stay expressive without becoming sharp or overly phenolic.
The malt contributes soft cracker, lightly toasted bread, faint sweetness, and a subtle earthy undertone that helps anchor the brighter yeast expression. Everything feels cohesive and restrained rather than exaggerated.
Mouthfeel:
Medium-bodied with moderate-high carbonation. Creamy yet effervescent, with a soft mineral finish that keeps the beer crisp and refreshing. The alcohol is remarkably well hidden—there’s a gentle warmth, but it never becomes obvious or intrusive.
Overall Impression:
Albion is a stellar Tripel and an excellent example of the style. Clean fermentation, expressive yeast character, restrained sweetness, and excellent balance all come together beautifully. Nothing feels overdone, and no noticeable flaws are pulling the beer off course.
Honestly, this is the kind of Belgian-style ale that reminds me why I enjoy the style so much in the first place—complex, elegant, and dangerously drinkable. I’ll absolutely seek this one out again whenever I get the chance.

Very interesting array of flavors from when it hits your mouth until swallow. Definitely very yeasty, and can't even tell it's so alcoholic. A good trip.

16 oz. Can
Poured into a chalice a very nice clean/clear golden orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice foamy one-finger white head, which quickly leaves, very nice medium oil slick and sticky lacing behind. The nose is very nice malty, yeasty, very nice touch of clove, banana, nutmeg, licorice, with some grassyness. The taste is very nice, malty/yeasty, with some clove, banana, nutmeg, licorice, grassyness, pretty nice sweet note. Full Body, ABV is hidden very nicely. This is a very tasty brew. True to style.

Pours a clear golden color with a creamy white head that provides moderate lacing. Nice banana and clove notes notes, lots of estery aromas, and a bit of earthy funk as well.
The estery notes and banana flavors are most prominent on the taste and delicious, with the clove and earthy, funky flavors providing balance. Really nice flavor profile.
The mouthfeel is full and creamy. This is a pleasure to drink, and a tripel I’d gladly revisit.

16 oz can from Toby. Clear golden pour, flat. Nice soft Belgian aroma, yeast, sourdough. Taste brings buttery flavors, smooth, savory notes at the finish.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a nice opaque yellow with a solid 2 inches of white head. Tons of lacing. The nose is grass, lemon, orange, leather, yeast, and slight caramel.
The taste is fantastic. Relatively sweet for a tripel, but I love it. Sweet caramel, vanilla, yeast, plums, apricots, banana cream pie. Lovely.
The mouthfeel is somewhat creamy. Definitely not a typical tripel, but I would say this is more approachable for someone who isn't used to Belgian tripels. The ABV is completely hidden on this one. Dangerous!

Poured a beautifully transparent amber color with active carbonation, but the off white head formed and dissipated in record time.
The aroma is generally lost on my Covid affected nose, but I swear I got banana and, well that’s it. I was so surprised to smell anything that I forgot to pay attention.
The taste was pretty solid for the style, though the alcohol tended to be at the forefront more than the norm. Got the banana, just, and some spices, including black pepper and a tiny hint of clove.
The feel was good for the alcohol content, this isn’t one you drink to quench your thirst.
OA, good beer, glad to be able to try it.

16oz can served in a tulip. No date on the can. Bought it at the brewery in August.
Pours a clear rich golden with a flash of fizzy head that collapses to a light dusting and a healthy ring sustained with a lot of very fine active carbonation. Smell is banana funk, light wheat / grain, maybe the slightest hint of spice.
Taste is banana with a lot of earthy funk / almost bitterness. Scratch the "almost," there's some definite earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium and gets a little chewy. Overall...it's recognizably a tripel and it has a lot of the right flavors, but the earthy/funky/bitter flavor is too powerful, which may be a preference thing. Not a bad beer by any stretch.

a classically styled belgian tripel here, unfortunately not a hit among our tasting group this weekend, but many of them are not into belgian styles, i thought it was wonderfully executed, found approachable complexity in the yeast without anything being forced, and is about as well refined as all of their stuff. a can exploded on me at the beer store when i tried to remove one from a four pack, but when i opened this one, it wasnt gushing or hard to manage, could have been user error there. it pours really pale, even for the style, as much yellow as it is golden, rather clear, and with the high white airy head i look for in a belgian style like this, although the retention isnt quite there. the nose and flavor line up, belgian yeast ester driven, green pear, white wine, ocean water, stopping short of that taffy and bubblegum range the american ones can sometimes get to. i think its a familiar profile, a common strain, but its well used here, not too hot or anything, and its nicely grounded by the grain and the mineral profile, which are earthy, drying, and help make this crisp for a style that permits some sweetness. it is still relatively sweet, red apple juice, light caramel or toffee, but its resolved by the end. the body is light for what it is, but the alcohol is not exposed somehow, and this could be a pretty dangerous drinker at this strength. light spiciness as it warms, hints of white pepper and black tea, and there is a cooked banana flavor that comes on late too. very well made, not overly complex, and the mouthfeel is lively and light, an enjoyable beer and another good one from these guys, who definitely stand as one of the best in the state!
