Wow remember when dark farmhouse beers had a hot streak year ago? I miss them. Lighter black pour with a finger of tan foam, lazy lacing. Smell captures the bourbon barrel oak, char, and bitters, booze not so much, but this work because a bevy of dark fruit lead notes of licorice, hibiscus, and grape must. Taste is lush with midnight desire: dark fruits galore, tart elephant heart plum and red grape especially abounds. Licorice, char, oak, not overly boozy bourbon, must, sour lacto, hibiscus, and hints of caramel and lime wrap around the dark fruits to a complex yet elevated palate. Feel is pretty sour/tart but no acidity, booze is stupid well hidden, lush and dark. Amazing debut
