from a 473ml can packaged on Sep 09 2025. poured into a pint glass. A scant one finger fine white head on a foggy pale yellow. the head soon diminishes to a layer.
Grain and bread in the nose. A bit thin in the flavour department, but no major flaws.
A light body and good carbonation. Eminently seasonable but unremarkable.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. My first beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery.

Can from the LCBO- pours a clear light gold with a 1 finger white cap that quickly goes to a surface lace....aromas of boiled grains and some grassy-herbal hopping - clean aroma....dry 2 dimensional character with a prickly mouth feel from tight carbonation...flavor follows aroma with a well attenuated balance between hop and malts....finish is dry and clean...nothing outstanding but a decent lager in the vein of the Dortmunder style.

Picked this up at LCBO for $2.95. Not a bad brew at all. Light refreshing taste but you still know it’s beer. I’ll buy it again.

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded E1021 (May 10 2021) and served barely chilled.
Pours crystal clear and effervescent, its body pale straw yellow in colour; situated atop is nearly one finger of smooth, fizzy white foam that sizzles off within a minute or two. A thin collar is left encircling an islet of film, with almost no lace deposition whatsoever. The aroma is standard pale lager fare - gritty, grainy malts and bready sweetness, with a faint hint of grassy hay - nothing here to get excited about just yet.
The flavour follows after the aroma - this is a clean-tasting, no frills Euro-style pale lager. Grainy malts and bready sweetness at the forefront, with hints of apple and grassy hops joining in towards the finish; maybe a touch of banana, too, but it's quite faint. Grainy-sweet aftertaste that doesn't linger for long. Light-ish in body, with moderate carbonation that starts off quite assertive, but exhausts itself quickly, resulting in a much smoother 2nd half of the glass. It's got great drinkability, but that's the only real strong point here.
Final Grade: 3.50, a B grade. Storyteller Lager is plain and forgettable, but I don't think I'd have any trouble tossing this back all night. Of course, I wouldn't be enthusiastic about doing so, and given the price point (approx $3.00/can) I don't see it actually happening - not when beers like Czechvar or Bitburger are cheaper, commonplace, and better. But perhaps it's not fair to compare this to actual pilsners, when it's really more akin to something like Carlsberg or Heineken: in that context, it's pretty much on par in terms of quality, if not slightly better. If you enjoy Euro lagers of that sort, then this'll be worth your time - otherwise, it's just another case of 'tick it and forget it'.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for $2.95 CDN. Canned August 12, 2020.
Appearance - Very pale golden beer, slight amount of haze and a finger of loose white head on top. Better than expected staying power
Smell - Lots of grain, subtle bready notes, not a whole lot else.
Taste - Plenty of course grain, some bready flavors, not much depth beyond that (although wasn't really expecting much beyond that).
Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, good level of fizz. Easy to drink.
Overall - Pretty solid lager that compares well with the bigger brands. Not memorable but decent enough brew for any occasion.

Very pale, even for a lager, light straw colour. Minimal head. Taste is light also, not much flavour. Not bad...but not great. Purchased in a can six-pack from TBS
