Had this one at Sour Sunday 2018. I member calling elrogish afterwards bc he is from the area near this brewery and wanted to get the 411 on what was unknown to me at this point in Feb 2018.

Pours a color like you just ordered a glass of cabernet. Rich blackberry and plum like color. Thin pink head. Had a dark cranberry, dark berry dry wooden lemon aroma.

Taste was a dark fruit and dark berry laden drinking experience. Sourness around 6.5/10. Pretty dry back end for something so dark. There are plenty of similarities to Consecration, albeit thankfully not as strong. Thought there might have been more notes of leather and earth to it given the color, but I guess that was all fruit instead of malt. I've seen it referenced as a saison, but I'm kinda thinking a hard no on that. But it was an enjoyable experience from a new brewery, so I'll check 'em out again if I come across them.

Well this was a nice surprise...from a single hauled back from an August trip back to the PNW, finally making its way from the cellar into a tulip. Pours a rich dark plummy red with some little reddish wispy bubbles that foam up to a finger's worth or so for a minute, then quickly subsides to nothing...there's a depth and thickness to that red that pulls me right in. On the nose there's a lot of berry there, like when you happen on a patch deep in the woods when it's a little wet, so you've got a lot of lush greenery and some wood, too. Then there's a little fresh cut cedar, which is maybe supposed to be the oak barrel...but I don't get that as clearly or as well as the rest. And some faint brett, I think, but it's only at the edge. The berry is so good here, it carries the rest for me, which is okay but nothing special. With the taste, again, the berry is quite good and rich, more tart than sweet but not sharply tart...it's interesting, but it's kind of jammy; the brett and the woodiness kind of drop out, but in addition to the berry I get a little hint of fleshy cherry, a little tart blueberry and then some rich old leather notes that come in three quarters of the way through and add something nice, coming to the finish with more tart berry. Not all that much in the way of layers or complexity, but that main note is a really enjoyable one. Carb is middling, which is perfect, and the body is a little on the thick side without feeling heavy...plenty to enjoy here.

375ml corked/caged bottle served in a pair of little Cantillon glasses. Batch number 2.

Pours purple, with an initial very small purple head that fades quickly. It looks like grape juice. Smell is tart berries. Straightforward, but nice.

Taste is quite tart -- again, berries, maybe a hint of cherry or plum. Almost a rhubarb tartness.

Mouthfeel is light, dry, and smooth. Overall, nice beer.

A: Absolutely gorgeous, pours a stunning maroon/purple/blood red with a billowing, fluffy/pillowing reddish pink head, stacks upon stacks of effervescent foam.
S: Fresh, sweet, bright berry jam - notes of blackberry/raspberry/blueberry/strawberry, all of the berries, hints of spice, even some citrus notes.
T: Wow that is massively jammy but not in a dripping sugary sweet kind of way. This is all muddled berries of every sweet, succulent variety, freshly pressed/squeezed until it's a glorious pulpy concoction of fruit/skins/seeds/juice. Just a hint of tartness, some undertones of citrus, some muddled lemongrass and orange zest, wisps of spice and oak.
F: Bright and bubbly, carbonation is high but not champagne levels creating a soft, pillowy mouth feel. Surprising amount of body, I'd say medium, with a fair amount of sweetness but a clean, dry finish.
O: What a gem this is! I am only familiar with the brewery in the vaguest sense through a friend (the one who sent me this beer) but I am now very much interested in what else they have to offer. This is incredible tasty, fantastically complex, and just well crafted.
