An ultra-rare find, as only 588 bottles were produced of Amitie. I grabbed 304/588 of the series when i was beer shopping in Seattle a month ago, and the 375 ml corked and caged bottle was popped with my friend. On to the beer:

A light orange colored beer with a little head and solid retention. The aroma is lightly tart, lemony, dry, and only lightly spiced. While Amitie doesn't pound you with any one flavor, it does show a wave many different characters that don't get into the way of others. Relatively light flavored red wine/currents arrive, light tartness throughout, dry, a little barnyard funk, and spice. Gentle bubbles and a light body provide the ride to this pleasing saison, which I would love ride on again.

 

 

375mL into a tulip. Pours a hazy copper color w/ a nice fluffy head w/ great retention, nice lacing, vigorous carbonation.

Aroma is bright and tart, citrusy, juicy.

Taste leads off with a nice sour twang, followed by a slightly grainy quality. Orange citrus, dry oak. A touch vinous.

Mouthfeel is crisp and balanced, medium bodied. Finishes pretty dry.

Overall a pretty solid saison/wild ale. A few years ago something like this would be pretty hard to find but now lots of breweries are cranking out pretty decent versions of this kind of beer.
