Batch No. 2 of E9 Catharsis barrel aged farmhouse ale. Label notes barre3l aged farmhouse ale brewed with Saaz and Kohatu hops. Bottle is 500mL and topped with a champagne style cork with cage. Still 5.7% abv. I'm serving it in a tulip.
Straw yellow in color, lots of carbonation, lightly hazed, medium head formation that rapidly falls to a healthy thin blanket. Semi-sweet aroma that reminds me of cider. I get acidity more than tartness -- in a good way, like a really fine sherry vinegar. Flavor is pretty mild, not only in terms of funk and hops but also the oak I'd expect from a barrel aged beer. Saaz gives it a bit of a belgian lager quality. High effervescence is pleasant but I'm not necessarily a fan of bubbles being the strongest note in a beer.
For me, this is way more enjoyable than most sours, but much less interesting than something like Ommegang or Sorachi Ace.

Golden body with a white head.
Nose is brett forward, funky
Taste has light to none acidity, no sweetness, nice funk, great barrel notes
Dry in mouth, this beer is a savior in a huge beer tasting, it resets the palate right on! Very enjoyable, well balanced and not acidic!
