(Blueberry Love) Barrel Aged Farmhouse Ale with Blueberries)
A complex deep maroon ale with competing aromatics from barrel fermented brett funk and whole fruit blueberries grown on the plateau above Lake Chelan in north central Washington. A base saison, fermented in stainless tanks with our house brett culture, then transferred to wine barrels for a year with additional brett pitched, then put back on whole fruit in stainless tanks for 2+ months. An earthy, barnyard funk under laying a subtle, true blueberry aromatic.

this is the best beer i have ever had from these guys, i mean its literally insane, so ridiculously good, mature and funky like lambic, the purest essence of the blueberry, and not as acidic or even vinegar heavy as a lot of their beers have been in my experience. its shocking to me this hasnt gotten more attention, i was floored by it. batch two, light lavender pink, almost looks like a soda with all the bubbles, and accumulates a little bit of a head too, pretty clear, not perfectly, but brighter than anticipated. aroma is tannic and tart from the blueberry skin character, some violet and raspberry and plum notes too, but the blueberry is real and honest. its with brett and lemony lacto but also a sort of aged turbid woody lambic vibe, way more complex and less outwardly sour than a lot of their beer. the flavor is the same, white wine and rose bubbles and a mouth full of ripe blueberries. light on the grain side, mouthwatering funk and tang, super mature to me, passable as belgian and open captured and all of that, which i would have never said about one of their beers before this. its so good, i mean really amazing, an early beer of the year candidate for me here in 2020, and worth every penny of its fairly high price. the quality here is insane, the fermentation profile is sexy, but with the fruit is orgasmic. this deserves some attention, hype, accolades, whatever. its one of the rare hotel beers that makes being on the road worth it. an absolute gem! desperately seeking more!
