this has changed from batch to batch, different fruits and such, i was pumped to get this one on tap at the original firehouse location. its a blueberry wild beer, and its incredible, one of the best of the older beers ive had from these guys actually. deep almost crayon purple, violet in the glass, very little head by the time it got to our table but i did not see it get poured or know how long it may have sat waiting for service, still the color ir gorgeous. the nose is tart but more funky almost lambic style than immediately acidic, the brett is real mature, and the oak here with the fruit gives it a red wine vibe, cool tannins and tang from the blueberries too, and they are identifiable in the nose as such, even though i dont really think about how blueberries smell too often or consider them all that fragrant. the flavor is wonderful, very natural and very pungent blueberry, even a couple of years old. very little grain, way cool yeast profile, some herbal character here too, some light vanilla from the barrels too, but its not desserty. high end red wine vinegar, old brett, cut flowers, black currants, just trace sweetness too. overall this is incredible, and while it could use more carbonation, i am in no mood to critique something so delicious. these guys have my full trust, love, and admiration!
