one of the hoppiest lagers i have had from these guys so far, pretty piney and bold as they go, very crafty tasting, less yellow beer than some of their others have been, although of course this is still clear and pale colored and all of that, there is just a lot more going on with the flavor than a lot of its peers. to me this is piney, slightly bitter, a little oily from the hops, and somewhat fuller bodied than i have gotten used to in their lagers. its not overdone, but its certainly hop driven. fortunately there traditional lager elements are pretty robust in here, so this is still obviously a lager and is what it says it is, a little european character and a crackery vibe to the malt, a touch off dry, and then the bready lager yeast at the end, which works well with the hops and makes this pretty crisp and drinkable. it is just a bit more filling than a lot of them have been, sits in the belly a tad heavy for the style, but i like the freshness, the hop pop in the middle, and the balance through it. well refined and very professionally done, as always from these guys. i was looking for a pounder, and this is a bit more flavorful and bold than really suits that, but i enjoyed this four pack a lot this weekend and continue to be stoked on just about all the beer these guys are making!

Firsties! A 16 oz can, as usual with E9, no sign of a date but it’s fresh. Golden pour, light head and bright looking. Malty nose. Tasty brew, dry and crisp citrus taste, light but unmistakable hops and pleasant carbonation. We like lager in the summer and this is better than most. We got one can for the tasting, but will go back and pick up a four or six pack.
