amazing stuff right here, hands down the highlight of my beer weekend, a collaboration with both holy mountain and freigeist, super heady. barrel aged farmhouse ale with spices is all it says, which does no justice to the complexity here, wow, what a beer! its in a bottle shape i have never seen from these guys, cork and caged but bigger than their normal ones, great price on it too, about 12 bucks. nice high rising white head from the tap, very belgian looking, lasting and airy, on top of a slightly rusty orange toned brew, a little sediment visible on the edge of the bottle but not much coming out into in the glass, only at the very bottom. tons and tons of carbonation, super alive. aroma is funky and woody, vinous and stone fruity, chardonnay grapes and ripe peaches and sour gooseberries, light orange peel, white pepper, and even melon juiciness too, very complex, tart and funky but not overly astringent and no sign of any vinegar or anything like that, but very mature. the fermentation profile is just fantastic, vinous again with the oak, but funky bretty and patiently done, not as sour as it smells at all, and with some neat belgian sort of esters swirling around. not sure what spices they used, but i would think a little orange and coriander are possible, this has an almost wild wit vibe, definitely wheat based, soft feeling but with a ton of carbonation, this really is expressive, even refreshing for how complex it is, downright impressive from start to finish, and we drink it way too quickly and instantly wish we had more. its great beer, the kind of thing that first attracted me to these guys, glad to have it available here in idaho. wonderful stuff, a killer collaboration, and one of the best wild beers ive had in a little while now...
