a new barrel aged farmhouse brew from these guys, cork and cage, a little north of ten bucks a pop, worthwhile, but to me not one of their more distinctive funky brews, a little more samey than i have come to expect from these guys, especially with the wild stuff, which is not to say that this isnt extremely well done, it surely is. pale but not quite as light as straw, a little hint of light rusty orange to it, a very active white head on top, not rising all that high but lasting, constantly being replenished by the bubbles rising up, this is very fizzy on the tongue too, really love all the life to the mouthfeel, zippy and bright. aroma and flavor are tannic from the oak, slightly vinous to me, like maybe this was done in old white wine barrels, a sort of slate minerality to it, some light green grape, granny smith apple, and even kiwi fruit notes, but a simple grain base, maybe pale wheat based but quite subtle, and then a little more pucker than funk on the ferment, but both aspects definitely present. more sour than bretty to me, lactic and sharper than anticipated, lemony a little bit, but also sort of a light vinegar thing happening, slight apricot, wet musty brett, and lots of wood, this seems long aged to me. not sour enough to sit rough in the belly or hurt my teeth, but i would have been happy to be sharing this bottle instead of drinking it solo. a very well made example of this sort of thing, but to me not one of their more memorable, i guess their quality has been so high across the board that i kind of have come to expect to be blown away every time, instead of just being stoked on something solid like this. likely to age real well also, love all the bubbles, good depth of flavor, cannot wait to hit the brewery next month when i am out their way!

Not much barrel but a good amount of funk and lemons with a subtle tartness. Finish was mineraly in a good way. Solid 4! Multiple Untappd has picture and review.
