my can says 4.3% abv, a collaboration with the intriguing bizarre brewing, who i need to get more acquainted with. loving that the grisette style seems to be on the rise, at least in the northwest, so much room to play here. this one is really yeast driven, to the point of being phenolic, not sure why i expected more wild yeast funk, could be all that e9 does in those styles or the bizarre logo or something on the can, maybe the word farmhouse on it, but this is clean yeast run hot, less interesting than it could be, but it might even be generic french/belgian at a cooler temperature, its not that, this is lemon dish detergent and coconut lotion and apple blossom and peach ring candy, all the esters swirling, poached pear, white sugar, some wheat way back in here, light on the grain side, but the nose and taste are dominated by these phenols, spicy as it warms, white pepper, preserved lemon, and coriander seed notes, its off dry but it lingers awhile due to the intensity of the fermentation profile, and honestly this seems a little overdone in this regard, out of proportion in an otherwise pretty light beer. i like it, but i dont love it, and i dont long for a second pint can of it or anything, well made i can say, but not to my tastes. a more subtle, perhaps more funky and rustic yeast profile would be preferrable. major citrus, some thiols, some field green hop character, limey too, distinct and assertive, back end bitterness, complex for sure, but maybe not as cohesive or dialed in as anticipated. fun, different, intense. love all the bubbles too, this is super excited and it works well in here. could be aging a little bit...
