a new dry hopped lager series for the taproom where the hops change from batch to batch, caught it with peacharine when we were in, a cool varietal that is getting some hype as a lager hop, and ive enjoyed it in that context as i enjoyed this one, but i am also eager to see what it can do in a more robustly hop driven style. that said, this is real good, fruity and fresh, light but not minimal, modern without trying too hard, and these guys continue to be impressive pretty much every time i have the chance to drink their stuff. this is a cool new zealand varietal showing soft florals, preserved lemon, white peach, and mellow grapefruit character, perhaps a bit of green pear as it warms, aroma and flavor are real close in this, seems lower alpha but this beer is crisp anyway, very well lagered with a close to neutral strain, seems like a pils type malt at the core of this, enough body and flavor balance, additional freshness from it too, but its well out of the way, this is brilliantly proportioned, high sparkle, and refreshing for being as flavorful as it is. subtle near ripe apricot and mango come out a little bit as it sits, clover in spring, clean citrus, light almost perfume character, bellini, to me this is a really distinctive hop but always seems to be speaking with such a soft voice, someone needs to allow it to pipe up, at least in a pale or something, but this is excellent, makes it not feel like winter, has some decidedly southern hemisphere properties but a lot of its own personality too, great dosage and an excellent base lager to feature this with hop (and presumably many others). looking forward to seeing where this series goes next, really a ripper this one!
