A: crystal clear; deep gold in color; 1 finger fizzy off white head that receded quickly to a wispy cap with a thick collar; no lacing;

S: coriander, lemon, and salt water;

T: coriander with lemon; an undertone of salt from the middle through the finish; the salt is noticeable on my lips;

M: light to medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: interesting, but not something I would drink again;

Can from the IGA in Winter Harbor, Maine. Pours clear golden yellow with fluffy white head that dissipates, nice lacing, smell is Belgian malt candy, banana, hints of orange peel and maybe a whiff of brine, taste follows the nose with sweet bready malts, clove, hints of banana and maybe some seaweed/brine on the end, feel is medium bodied with good carbonation. The seas weed character is maybe there, but otherwise a solid Belgian saison.

Served from an undated can at Sweet Pea’s Cafe, Bar Harbor, ME. Slightly hazy amber color with quickly receding head. Fresh wheat and some barnyard funk on the nose. I really dig the flavors of this beer- the prominent seaweed flavor fit really well with the funky saison style. Salty, briney, with a bit of funk on the finish and a hint of citrus. I like that they didn’t shy away from the kelp on this one because it really sets this one apart from a lot of other sea-inspired saisons or gose beers. Really impressive and a cool beer to try while in Acadia for vacation. Will have to stop by the brewery sometime to see what else they have going on.
