500ml bottle with tan colored wax and pressure cap under the wax. Poured into a Duvel Tulip for the solo dome.
Appearance: Black bodied with a thin cap of khaki colored head. Head drops down to no head at all. Thick legs after each sip.
Smell: spicy rye and caramel.
Taste: Starts off with a huge rye whiskey note. Beer starts with sweet notes of big caramel and a hint of honey roasted peanuts. The middle has a decent amount of prune/raisin notes with some black strap molasses followed by dry oak notes which begins the transition into the finish. The finish has a lighter sweetness that is tempered by more rye notes and dry oak then a light chocolate noted in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low carbonation. Typical Dimensional barrel program texture. It's motor oil. It's not boozy at all.
Overall: What a massive rye barrel presence that is still smooth and enjoyable experience. This massive beer doesn't get tiring despite its richness. I would call this a "stouty" Rye Whiskey barrel aged English Barleywine.
