Dillicious Pickle Beer from Horny Toad Brewing. Purchased on 22/5/21 from reefer at the brewery, $ 4.33 (including tax)/16 oz can ($0.271/oz). Stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 24/5/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Served at 52.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried glass coffee cup. Final temperature 59.5 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), hazy.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), opaque. When rear-lite, same with some large bubbles.
Head – Average (Maximum three cm, aggressive center pour), ivory, medium density, fizzy so gone in seconds leaving no crown and no cap. Second pour produces no head.
Lacing – Good. Wide bands of tiny to small bubbles, connected by columns of varying widths.
Aroma – 3 – Weak dill, no hops, no malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.5 – Distinctly dill with no malt, no hops, no yeast. Dill all the way followed by salt and ending with pickle. Sour. No ethanol (unknown ABV, not marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, watery, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 No false advertising here – definitely pickle juice. A pool beer.
