Poured from 500mL bottle into a tulip. The label says this is a saison openly fermented on marionberries -- very Oregon.
Appearance: dark salmon-pink hue with a moderate haze and a finger of fizzy pinkish foam which dissipated quite quickly. The color is pretty, although a little more head retention would be nice.
Smell: light fruity aroma with some tartness and a distinct earthy character.
Taste: mild fruit flavor right up front along with short span of malty undertones; there's almost a wheaty character here. There's perhaps a little bit of saison funk; overall it's quite earthy, as well as a bit tart, with quite a dry finish. It's nice.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a great big carbonation. Creaminess is big, though evanescent; I still quite like it.
Overall: a decent beer, but I feel the fruit is somehow muted in the overall blend. Turning up the fruit flavor a bit more would add a lot, I think.
