A great refresher for a hot summer evening.
From my third Tavour shipment, this is my first from Ex Novo and the NEIPA that just passed German Pilsners in my ratings per category... worth noting since the pils has been around for a few centuries and the NEIPA only a few years. Poured appropriately into an elegant Westmalle goblet. ("Appropriate" requires a long explanation I now forgo.)
Saul Fruitman has most -- if not all -- the trademarks of a good NEIPA. Saul Looks like a blond opaque with good foam that fades. Saul Smells like a tropical fruit punchbowl. Saul's only tell-tale Taste of bitter hops arrives in the finish. But my mouth still feels great in the aftermath.
While I suspect there is a story behind the name Saul Fruitman that I know not, Ex Novo's story is good enough to relate. With two operations in Portland, they are the first micro that I'm aware of who gives 100% of their net profit to good cause; hence the Big OA Hugs. (Now I suspect "net profit" leaves plenty aside for expansion since they now have three sites, the third being production down in New Mexico... a choice place to retire to.) But, Ex Novo seems more than genuine and better than good-hearted. And I hope to sample their Belgian-inspired wares. Do you hear me Tavour ?

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
