really dope little beer here, complex for an unassuming can, done in collaboration with dwinell, this actually looks more like their packaging than ex novo, impressively good and very ambitious. a wheaty base, low alcohol, and funky from a mixed culture from ex novo, then its packaged with a mixed culture from dwinell, so both house blends are at work together, which really is the type of collaboration i can get behind. sunny yellow color to this, frosted but still bright, nice can conditioned white head on it. great maturity right away, fermented in oak, the wood is evident and the brett is here seems well developed, not real tart, but lemony and clean, and with some cool rustic character both from the yeast and the grain, maybe some raw wheat in here too, herbal and even fruity from the hops, modern and slightly southern hemisphere there, floral too, limey, white wine notes, minimal but complex at the same time, definitely summery. the flavor is all of this, nice mix of funk and tang, but more of the former, a fresh oak profile with a hint of vanilla, a high quality and still fresh tasting pale wheat malt, neat but delicate hop profile, and this combination of yeasts is what make it. frothy feeling, effervescent, nicely conditioned, and overall of a very high quality. i love this sort of thing, know its labor intensive and not the easiest sell, but its a gorgeous end result, a beer i hope to drink again, and one that is going underappreciated right now it seems. i love the ambition and the execution equally well!
