Bottled on 8/11/19 (Blend 02)
Pours a hazed yet glossy honey-orange body, steadily effervescent and topped with a finger and a half of soapy, off-white foam; decent head retention leaves an inconsistent veil of otherwise fluffy cap and collar; bare minimum strands of lacing cling to the glass temporarily.
Aroma is dominant with rounded, pillowy yeast tones, touched with accents ranging from stone fruit and minerality to a crackery nuttiness; apricot bubblegum and honeyed nectarine feature prominently, while suggestions of crisp rice wafer and fresh raspberry syrup ease into the close.
Taste opens with quick tones of apricot and peach zest followed by light raspberry bubblegum amidst a crackery undercurrent on the mid-palate; a wave of intense acidic notes, lemon with a coursing minerality upfront, and a more lactic profile on the back end, comprehensively dominate after the brief fruity opening.
Mouthfeel shows a light body, with medium-high levels of carbonation further amplified by a deep, punchy acidity, cleverly dispersed though still heavily intense; high dose of puckering proceeds past the mid-palate with a slight, spritzy grit in its wake as it levels to a moderate funk on the finish.
The level of tartness present is not for the faint of heart as the soft waves of fruit do little to combat the overarching acidity; while it does embrace a subtle nuance just below the surface that leaves some moments of fruity, yeasty intrigue, a general imbalance leaves the final impression.
