Pours gold with a thick white head. Aroma is biscuit and hay. Taste is more sweet than bitter, nice grain sweetness. Feel is good smooth and easy. Overall it's tasty and easy drinking.

Picked this up at Joe Canal’s this week as it was the first big can that I ever had from Source. Indeed, I've loved what I've had from them and this fit that bill as it was a solid take on a Helles Lager that was full-bodied, easy to drink, and quite enjoyable in every aspect!

Of course, this poured clear and gold with a nice, fluffy head topping it off that was thick and soapy. The lacing left behind was plentiful but not in rings as there was a thick section near the middle of my glass with plenty of splotches around it. Lots of hops, bread, and spice in the nose as the German feel was quite prevalent and long-lasting in the taste. Plenty slick, with a bit of vanilla, pear, and banana underneath, the mouthfeel was crisp with a bit of potato chip in the back with plenty of malt throughout. The carbonation was understated as the grass was just present underneath everything else going on.

Not a lot of booze in this as it was easy to finish off the 19.2 oz can and only feel a slight buzz afterward. Dated 3/15 on the bottom of the can with "BIG N CRISP" written underneath that, that was an appropriate description of this enjoyable beer. Can't get to Munich? Grab one of these instead and enjoy Octoberfest year-round!

On tap at the brewery. Pours golden with white head. Aroma is of grassy hops and bready malt. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Long finish is dry. Nice brew.

On-tap @ Source Farmhouse Brewery in Colts Neck, NJ.

0.5 L pour into a tall mug.

Pale gold in color with a decent amount of haze. Small white head with fair retention that leaves sticky patches of lace behind on the glass.

Grainy, hay-like malt aroma. A touch of malt sweetness. Light grassy hops round things out. Flavor is very grainy and cereal-like. Mild apple.

Finishes dry but could be a little cleaner and have more depth to it. Medium-light bodied. Good carbonation.

Not a bad Helles but far from great. The style itself is designed to be simple but doesn't have to be boring. This version is a little too one note but the groundwork is there for this to be come better over time.
