This was a recent offering from Source that I picked up at Joe Canal's in Woodbridge, as it wasn't quite like any Saison that I ever had before! If life is indeed a bed of roses, than this offering might be it's soundtrack, or blueprint for what a beer for this life would feel and taste like. Indeed, there was plenty of rose and hibiscus in this from start to finish!
The pour was indeed like rose water that was infused as the hue, taste, and feel were quite floral and relaxing. Lots of leopard lacing was left behind as the full and evenly-settling frothy head topped the liquid off beautifully.Lots of flowers, mild Cryo Mosaic, pepper, and grain in the nose as the taste felt a bit like champagne and wine once this fully warmed up. Softly slick, full bodied, and just a hint dank in the bank, this was a lovely Saison that was perfect for the winter's reluctant transition into spring since it was full of flowering buds but just heavy enough to keep me warm on a cool night such as this one!
The carbonation was lively, but not prickly as stated in it's description on Instagram, as the aftertaste was a bit tart, rustic, and chewy from the grain. Dated 2/8 on the bottom of the can with "RUSTIC ROMANCE" as indeed, I could see myself falling in love with this beer. While not quite as impactful as a dozen roses, this would be a better value for the imbiber and his or her partner. Seek this out and thank Source when you get a chance!
