This was one of the first beers that I ordered from Source earlier this year, as it sounded quite interesting based on it's description. Cranberries are big here in Jersey and this offering showcased them nicely, as it was quite tart and sticky like the berry itself. Lots going on here with the end result being a beer that was plenty fruity and subtly potent!
Such a lovely pour to this as it looked like the rose mentioned in it's description, with plenty of fluffy head topping it off. Lots of thick bubbles stayed behind as the rings were thick and well-defined for being sudsy and scattered. A ton of green apple, cranberry, farmhouse funk, and rose were in the nose as the rustic, outdoorsy nature of the aroma carried well into the taste. This felt like wine in so many ways, but not one particular style in general. The Huell Melon was persistent underneath everything as there was light spice slick cranberry juice present on the palate, which made this quite lively and nuanced!
The amount of alcohol was just enough as I warmed up a bit while having, this, although it never overtook the range of flavors that made this so much fun. Canned on 1/3 with "SHADES OF CRANBERRY" written underneath that, this was a darned good Saison that flew out of my glass, represented the style well, and left me wanting more. Even though there was a tiny bit of dark sediment at the bottom of the glass, what more could one ask for on a perfect spring day?
