Gem clear in a Pretentious Glass Co. American Lager Pint Glass. Seemingly microscopic carbonation develops, diminishing the clarity after the pour is complete. A brief thin white head looks pretty yet is far from style expectations.
Apple brandy was expected from the label description; however, the strong boozy astringency really is off-putting. Strawberries try to come forward only to be beaten back by the fusel nature of this beer.
Oops! The fusel alcohol dominates. Apple brandy quickly occupies whatever space remains, with lots of apple spice, and no place for the base beer to show through. The finish is more of the same mess.
A light body with a watery texture. While the alcohol is not hot, it is far more present that one might desire. Modest carbonation.
While an interesting concept, this beer is a total miss, but still drinkable. Reading back my scores I suspect there may have been some undue kindness afforded there. One risk of waiting too long between taking notes and publishing them is losing the thought behind seemingly disparate comments vs. scores. I'm left to accept what was written at face value.
