The Beings For Whom Being Matters is about examination, exploration, and depth. Brewed in collaboration with our friend Averie at Keeping Together it features pu-ehr tea which is a fermented, aged tea known for its mellow, earthiness. The beer has notes of cardamom, lemon zest, clove, white peaches, roasted parsnips, dried mushrooms, black tea forest floor. It was primed for refermentation in the bottle with honey giving it a wonderfully soft and full texture for a beer that is bone dry.

Copenhagen 12/12 2025. 50 cl bottle from Kihoskh, Sønder Boulevard, Kbh. V. Crude drawing of a startled guy sitting under a lamp with his back to plan piece of paper. Very philosophical.
Pours opaque unclear golden orange with a mid-sized white head- Settles as a thin but unbroken layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet odor with a herbal touch mingling with tart notes. Sweet peach and pear. Light herbal touch. Citrus and black pepper. A bit subdued.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, gently tingling texture.
Flavor is moderately intense and a bit thin. Medium strong sweetness flowed by a slightly more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is a bit tart. Lingers shortly. Finish is semi-dry.
Delicious nose but a bit thin flavor.

Bought from The Beer Temple. In their marketing slogan, this is a "beer to revere"... or at least Beings has started on that path.
While Beings lacks the active foam typical of the saison (and my standard is traditional, sorry), Smells are full-on fruit and lemon leads the attack. And while the lemon never really lets the other ingredients (including the honey) have much more than bit lines in this play on my palate, finishing Tastes do dry-out nicely (I attribute that to the aged tea, which I remember from a few other ales.) Cleansing in the palate, Beings wiped from my mouth a pizza with lots of oregano and prepped me for a steamed artichoke dipped in butter and mayo. This is good work from my most favorite saison brewer (nearly a gypsy) and their collaboration with another highly skilled saison-maker (also a nomad.) Thanks for sharing your brewing passion !
