Red Saison
We brewed a double-decocted Nuremberg Rotbier at Goldfinger, split the batch in two, and Is/Was fermented theirs with their house Sasion yeast in their brewery. This beer is bottle conditioned with their house saison yeast for smooth natural carbonation.
Tasting notes: Rasins, walnuts, freshly steeped black tea, dried cherries, toffee, vending machine gumballs, and dried elderflower.
**This is not a lager, it is a Saison

On tap at The Beer Temple... An exquisite experience that will be hard to replicate in a bottle; but worth trying to find again.
Having 20 different brews from Is/Was, I feel I know them well. But, the creativity here surprised me.
A collab between a young saison specialist and a young lager specialist does not sound like a date from heaven. One makes fruit, the other makes clean and dry. But they worked it out. And what might not make sense in the abstract made sense on my palate. The dark dried fruits dominated, but the semi-dry finish stuck with me for a while. Bravo, young maestros !

I had this on draft 4/19/23 @ the Hopleaf.
Opaque red appearance.
Small bright white head; decent lace.
Soft peach, white wine & banana notes in the nose.
Soft, medium mouthfeel.
Peach, banana & mild clove flavors up front; faint berry notes on the finish.
A fruity delight!
