After Bourgeois Daydreams did its primary fermentation we transferred it onto strawberries from Mick Klug Farm that we had just previously used for Levain. We let Bourgeois Daydreams rest on those spent raspberries for 3 weeks before racking and packaging it with brettanomyces. The spent strawberries add a subtle hint of strawberry lemonade, a touch of black pepper and mild fruity tartness to the clean, floral profile of the base beer.

Released in May 2024, BD Strawberries is styled by UnTappd as a "table ale." And that is accurate, particularly at 3.2 ABV.
And BD Strawberries is a good table ale: interesting, as no ingredient dominates and, thus, let's the food play on my palate also. Tonight was two plates, same Saccottinni pasta, but with different sauces: a basil pesto and a lemon cream. BD was gentle on both and its semi-dryness also let each sauce stand out. Summer table ale fits summer fare.

Poured into my Lindemann's tulip, BD Strawberries Looks quite appetizing: an active foam that leaves little droplets on the glass. BD's attack is Wow-fragrant strawberries followed by Tastes with an immediate sense of balance and a long semi-dry finish with lemon, pepper and fruity tartness. And it seems like I've had this before among the other 21 beers I've had from them.

With the reused strawberries, this BD seems like secon- hand Brett. And if I got that right, then I prefer this over Is/Was' usual Brett conditioning in the bottle... which often is too strong for me and, hence, I avoid. Because of unexpected Brett and, frankly, my price sensitivity (I'm cheap), it has been too long since I last drank of the Is/Was genius. BD Strawberries is among them.
