the better of the two beers i had in here, but thats not saying much, their hefe was a mess. this isnt the kind of saison that gets me off, too clean, french and belgian yeats character, run warm on a too sterile wheat and pils malt grain base, nothing to this, tastes like a million others, but its technically okay, less soapy and phenolic than the hefe, cleaner, and with some hops on the back end that at least give it a little dimension. looks alright, pale orange, not quite clear, solid inch plus of white head from the tap at the brewery. some white pepper and pear notes in aroma and flavor, some candy sugar sort of sweetness, a white wine layer, dried apricot, and a touch of sharpness as it warms. the grain is decently sturdy here, and there is a prickle of alcohol pushing through, not out of place, high carbonation is right for the style. overall its more the yeast strain making this samey that turns me off than it is poor execution, which was the case with their hefe. more of a belgian single type here instead, but a step in the right direction. cool place but really uninspiring beers in my limited time there...
