Oak aged saison, brewed in support of the Live Like Laura Foundation, and given to those who attended the beer festival of the same name as the beer last summer.
Crystal clear golden color, with a very short-lived, sudsy looking white head.
Fruity and oakey nose. The fruit is a little bit vinuous in character, as though white wine grapes were involved. Perhaps white wine was what was originally in the oak that was used. Peppery, spicy Belgian yeast notes.
There's a very light vinegary note as well. Not exactly funky, but ever so slightly hinting in that direction.
Really crisp and lightly fruity tasting. Oakiness doesn't really kick in until about halfway through, and is sufficiently mellow as to not overwhelm. Like in the nose, the taste is not unlike a crisp white wine. Again, there's a teenie tiny hint of vinegary funk, but not enough for me to unequivocally believe that Brett was involved.
Fairly light and crisp in the body and mouth feel.
I'm thoroughly enjoying drinking this today, but I can't help but wonder if I made a mistake and not drinking it in warm weather, on account of a feeling I get that this would have made a lovely summer Apéritif. If I could get another can of this, I'd be happy to sit on it till such weather arrives, but I think they're all gone, with most of them going to the attendants of the aforementioned beer festival of the same name.
