i wanted to really love this, and was excited to see some saison types on the menu in here, but this isnt particularly interesting or well done, it seems overly basic to me, an all too familiar generic saison yeast run warm and without any rustic or unique elements to it, its estery and slightly vinous and all, pleasant enough, but i want more from the fermentation profile here, a lot more, especially from these guys. the base beer seems light and simple, perhaps more pils than wheat malt, and really doesnt have much going on to hold my attention here either, its also a little thing and under carbonated, not holding much head, and lacking the vigorous and brisk texture i like in this style. this isnt bad, its a fine drinker, but it seems to me like a pretty typical american take on the style, and i have sort of positioned these guys in my head as more creative and ambitious than that, so i was especially disappointed. others may disagree, but as it stands right now this is one of their weaker offerings overall, just nothing to elevate my stoke levels at all...
