Foxtown Brewing – Breakwater
ABV: 3.7%
Aroma: 4.0
Lemon right up front, followed by light pine and grassy hop notes. There’s some secondary citrus in there too—maybe lime. Honestly, a more expressive nose than expected for a beer this light.
Appearance: 3.5
Very pale straw to light gold (around SRM 2) with a touch of haze. The head drops off pretty quickly, but the lacing is excellent and sticks around on the glass.
Flavor: 3.75
The can says lemon drop, and that’s exactly what’s going on here. I picked it up on the nose before I even read the label, and it carries cleanly into the flavor. Bright lemon sweetness up front, then it settles back. Malt isn’t doing much—and that feels intentional. No malt sweetness, no real malt push, just a clean grain backbone way in the background. There’s some light bitterness that keeps the lemon in check and bounces the palate back toward those citrus notes.
Mouthfeel: 3.5
Light-bodied, crisp, and very easy to drink. Low ABV, clean finish, and just enough bitterness to keep it from feeling thin.
Overall: 3.75
This is a really well-executed light beer. More aroma and flavor than you’d expect at 3.7%, and the lemon character works without taking over. Simple, clean, and dialed in.
