Pours a dark black with a small short-lived tan head and light lacing.
Smells of toasted malt, maple and bourbon.
Tastes of sweet toasted malt, slightly bitter coffee, maple and caramel with a boozy warm finish.
Medium heavy body with almost no carbonation. Lush syrupy mouthfeel.
This is a very powerful, tasty, sweet dessert sipper.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours pitch black, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a patchy khaki head that dissipates to a ring around the glass with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa and maple syrup; somewhat mild. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, bakers chocolate, maple syrup and a touch of honey, but lingering honey flavor in the finish. Medium to heavy bodied with moderate creaminess and satisfactory carbonation despite the near still pour. It's been a while since I've had as black a stout pour, nearly the color and consistency of well used motor oil. The lack of foam contributes that. Inviting, although the lack of a head doesn't encourage me at first. All's well, there is good carbonation and the modest aroma does not reveal the substantial depth of of flavor. This is not that complex, but has a fine, deep malt base with some good malt char, some chocolate and well handled maple syrup and honey, the latter showing up more after the taste. Nice thick mouth feel and only semi-sweet, a relief from some of some recent pastry stouts. Nicely done, I like this.

2021 pint can poured cold to a tulip glass. Color is dark mahogany, with a finger of tan head that slinks away to a mesh of islands. Tons of sticky lacing. Nose is nonexistent unless you stick your nostrils practically on the liquid. There, you do get a weak sniff of the dark malts, honey, and maple. First sips are enjoyable. Very sweet as one would expect from a stout with honey and maple. I think the cold stunts it, as once it warms there is more complexity in the taste. I mean it’s all in your face stout with maple and honey, but warmth brings some nuances. Nice creaminess to the mouthfeel. It’s a solid drink and I think one that would be a great candidate for a barrel aged version. I can imagine how a good barrel aging would cut some of the sweetness and bring in nice bourbon zing.

Very dense and thick stout. This is a great beer but best shared. Tons of great flavors including chocolate salt and some caramel. Well done
