This is the first time I can remember drinking a kölsch so please do bear with my musings.

16 oz can acclimated to 46°F and poured into a stange glass.

Pours a mostly clear yellow, relatively light and vibrant, the color of florescent ceiling lights. Has a 4 finger foamy (it clings together like a clump) white head leaving some lacing and fading relatively quickly.

Initial aroma is a very crisp, clean, classic lager smell, with some lemon and a little pine. Definite yeast smell going on. After agitating the yeastiness grows in strength.

Initial taste before swallowing is mellow, pale, malty, and slightly malty bitter with a slight pepperiness. After swallowing I'm hit with strong maltiness, it's very crisp and clean. This is followed by a light hoppy bitterness which persists into the aftertaste, sitting on the back top of the tongue. Also present in the aftertaste is a smooth malty sweetness with a dry green herbal quality to it, dryness thought the whole process. Something I notice is a little bit of a medicinal or cough syrup taste that I don't love. Overall the taste is very yeasty and reminds me of the air over a cool lake, which is quite agreeable and drinkable.

Feel is quite nice, it's very clean and also smooth without being thick. It has lasting carbonation, feeling pleasant the entire time. I would use the words refined and pillowy.

Overall it's solid. Despite the note of medicine I picked up I did certainly enjoy it. The mouthfeel was likely my favorite aspect.

Not terribly likely to buy again but I may. I would say it would make a good session beer. Perhaps not the top pick for a working man's drink but would certainly be gratifying on a hot or long day. I must say that I really love the can art.

16oz can. Poured out a crystal clear, golden yellow color with a small, fluffy head of white foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of toasted bread, biscuity malt, toffee and floral notes. Sweet caramel taste with some citrus and a mild bitterness.
