From the big bottle in a snifter. This most excellent saison pours a clear
golden, much like a Duvel, with a moderate head of white foam that settles
to a thick ring, thin light pool, and light sudsy lacing. Nose of light grains, light white
pepper, and sweet candy malts mingling with light yeast notes. Flavors are a Belgian
tripel lovers dream---lightly spiced white pepper notes float about bubblegum and candy
sugars with light phenol notes from the yeast with light banana and subtle herbal notes
from the hops with a touch of stone fruit and subtle apple notes. Very nice mouth feel; smooth,
lightly crisp, low carbonation, and subtly dry.
Overall---another winner from the great brewers of Schlafly. My new favorite saison.
Cheers

Gold in color with effervescent carbonation from within. There's a half inch of creamy, dense off white foam on top. The aroma is faintly earthy saison yeast and light malt. The taste is very well balanced light sourdough malt with a touch of the earthy saison yeast and honey. The mouth is very dry, crisp, and smooth.

Overall, enjoyable. I'd rather spend my 14-15 bucks a bottle on many other examples though. Drinkable enough but a little flabby.

Golden, lightly orange colored brew with a slim white head. The aroma is of fresh fruit (oranges?) and a floral scent. There is a bit of grass and a wheat note. The taste has is moderately bitter with a light tartness. It's somewhat dry and has a clean, crisp finish. Refreshing and enjoyable.

Reinventing their saison, a crisper, lighter, cleaner and much more simplistic taste emerges; one which is enlivened with a bubbly texture and a balance of finesse between fruit, spice, grain and acidity.
Shockingly bright and sparkling with brilliancy, its medium straw hues cast against the glass with the look of champagne, but with the voluminous fluffy white head that speaks to beer. The slight assertion of citrus, orchard and cider plays out over a crisp wafer scent and as a counterpart to moderate vinous-type spice. Its taste is bright with pilsner malt and honey with floral honeysuckle nuance rounding about the early palate.
Its militant carbonation carries away much of the bulk of sweetness. The dry exoskeleton left behind supports the fruit flavors of lemon, melon, apple, light orange and white grape while its balance is of freshly grated white pepper, faint cumin and strands of white wine wine. Mild cork and balsa give a glimpse of earth and rusticity though its "farmhouse" character is restrained.
Medium-light on the tongue, the beer's continued dryness and expressive carbonation ensures a lighter and drier tone. The prickly bubbles give the peppery side of balance a boost over that of fruit and gives the alcohol a smooth evaporative cooling- all leading to a clean, crisp and refreshing session with absolute ease.

This is a new brew. Different from the retired one. (See label description below). It poured straw yellow with a slight haziness. Crisp spicy flavor with a great yeasty/bready nose.
This saison is characteristic of the traditional French style that uses two imported yeast strains - Belgian Ardennes and French Saison - for a complexity of unique spice that finishes crisp and dry.
Citrus notes of the Lemon Drop hops along with the combination of barley and wheat create a delicate sweetness and light body. This bright-golden, balanced beer is as refreshing as it is unique.
