In 2016 we began trialing more beers that incorporate ingredients both during fermentation and after. For this refreshing version, we brew our popular Helles-style lager then add watermelon purée to the fermenter. It emerges smooth, bright, and malty but with a twist of flavoring sweetness from the fruit.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of slight sweet malt, pale malt, floral, hint of fruit (watermelon or cucumber). Fits the style of a Fruit / Vegetable beer. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong pale malt, hint of wheat, hint of hops, and fruit (watermelon or cucumber). Overall, weak appearance, fruit is subtle, simplistic, but light body and good blend.

From a mixed twelve pack of summer brews, this was the first one I tried...serious slightly tart watermelon aroma. The appearance is a very pale gold color with a thin white head. The taste is clean fruity. Watermelon continues in the taste, with a slight sourness. The taste is a little artificial, which is off-putting. Grain. Light hop notes. Slim body. Not a lot more. I'm a little disappointing. This brewery has put out some terrific brews...I expected more.

Pours clean and clear, with a light golden color and a pillowy white head that dissipates quickly. No detectable watermelon smell or taste, really. Just a pretty straightforward lager, with maybe a little touch of sweetness. Overall, it's fine, I guess.

Poured a clear, golden color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled faintly of watermelon with hints of grains and caramel. Not an overpowering watermelon flavor. Tastes like a nice lager with a splash of watermelon.
