L) Pours a very hazy stray color, and looks very comparable to pear juice. Minimal lacing or head
S) The smell is funky, not that that isn't really to be expected, but the pleasant and spritzy acidity is hidden behind a sweat like must.
T) The beer is quite tart, and the gooseberry notes are evident. The taste is lovely, with a small amount of residual sweetness accentuating the intense tart fruitiness to a lovely degree.
F) The beer has a nice body to it for how acidic the beer is, almost like drinking unfiltered cider.
O) This beer truly is lovely, but I can definitely say I intentionally spent less time smelling it than I did tasting it, but that is the nature of funky goses.

Pours a cloudy maize color. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of salt, pale malt, fruit, bacterial funk, and strong earthiness. Fits the style of a Gose. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with a low carbonation level. There is also a noticeable tartness. Tastes of salt, pale malt, fruit, bacterial funk, and strong earthiness. Overall, average appearance for a Gose, pleasant tartness, fruit and earthiness dominate, strong bodied yet still somewhat traditional.

L - cloudy golden hue, minimal head that dissipates quickly
S - slightly smoky, berry, salt, earthy
T - slightly tart, salty, nice spiciness from coriander, berry flavor is well-integrated and not overwhelming
F - moderate carb, slick and refreshing
O - great example of a modern gose that doesn’t go overboard on the fruit and doesn’t shy away from more traditional flavors. Still approachable and delicious!

Bottled April 2017; drank 9/14/17 @ the Yarchives.
Cloudy pale yellow appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice, extremely noisy bright white head; minimal lace.
Dirt, blueberry & sea salt notes in the nose.
Thin mouthfeel.
Tart blueberry, dirt & sea salt flavors up front; mild honeyed grain notes on the finish.
There's an earthiness here that clashes with the zest a gose should display; I've had my last.

i am surprised to see this rated as low as it is, these ibex series beers have been great, and this is a well enough made gose with an interesting fruit add, it should be right on trend no? its a pale color, must have used the green less ripe gooseberries rather than the more purple ripe ones, and the tartness would suggest the same. it has a tartness from the berries thats at least as distinct as the tartness from the lacto, which is sharp and citric, but not as clean as some others (that said, i sort of like its other residual flavors and aromas, rustic and funky, not too lab derived or synthetic like the way too clean ones can be at times, this is still sort of raw and from the earth in its vibe. the gooseberries are pretty pungent and i think thats really neat, nice with the wheat malt in here, which is also more flavorful than the gose average. the saltiness is rad, maybe my favorite feature, souring even more, briny, green olivey, oceanic, really splendid, and it helps the finish dry right out in a pretty good rush of bubbles. whats not to like here folks? this is well done and unique in a style more and more brewers are putting out. much better than its ratings here...

Horrible burnt sulfur smell. Tasted only moderately better. This must have just been a bottle gone bad.

A kind of milky opaque blonde tone, decent carbonation. The smell was horrible - latex, sewage, rotten berries, aluminum twang. Flavor is a modest improvement but still with a stale dishwater filtered through a plasticy sponge element.

Light yellow in color with moderate haziness that blocks out a third of the light trying to seep through it. The eggshell white head quickly vanishes completely. The nose is a hefty dose of sea salt with coriander leading the way. I taste a well balanced amount of sea salt and coriander with pale wheat in the middle and a faintly sweet gooseberry finish. The mouth is very salty, crisp, and sharp.

Milky pale yellow with darker orange edges and a thin white fuzz that dies to a thin ring.
Smell is lactic with blueberry-lemon and that gooseberry sour grape with a touch of salt and wheat.
Taste is lemon, grapefruit, blueberry and other bush berries. The gooseberry kicks up the tartness nicely, but this in turn masks the classic Gose attributes--I'm missing things such as the salt and the sometimes sea-like or cheese-like funk the style can exhibit. A little wheat is still present though.
Frothy, medium bodied with a tart swallow and a dry to semi-dry finish.

Look is a hazy golden straw color. With a minimal amount of white head.
Aroma is some sort of tart unripe berry and a decent amount of yeast/breadiness.
Taste follows nose. Tart unripe berry, some graininess. Tartness hangs on to the mouth for a bit.
Feel is crisp and ever so slightly dry.
Overall a good interpretation of the style but at a terrible price point. Glad I picked up a single.
