Poured into a dimpled mug: color is dark brown, light tan head presents quickly a scant 1/4 inch but dissipates to nothing, no lacing.

Smell is subdued but notes of light roast, light roasted coffee, toffee, earth and grassy hops.

Taste is toffee, light roast, cocoa, light coffee, light caramel, toast, earth, light grassy hops.

Mouthfeel low carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness.

Overall a very good brown ale - presentation and aroma are little lacking but great brown ale flavor and moderate mouthfeel.

Attic Brewing Co. "Bloodhound Brown Ale"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating

Notes via stream of consciousness: This brown ale pours a very dark brown that appears black at the widest part of the glass but more mahogany brown in the thinner areas. It's not perfectly clear, and orange highlights glimmer at the base of the glass. The head is a short cap of khaki colored foam. The aroma is limited but includes notes of black coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor brings in some additional toffee, golden to medium dark caramel, toastiness, and a light touch of apple. A moderate to median bitterness balances it and it finishes dry with some residual caramel, coffee, apple, and baker's chocolate lingering. It's light-medium in body and gently crisp-then-smooth. All in all it's well put together, well brewed, and quite quaffable.

on draft at the brewery

clear, medium brown in color, thin white head. pretty spot on for the style - toasty bread and mild caramel flavors. slightly sweet. medium bodied.

Beer pours a nice cola color, only slightly lighter than a stout. Foam fairly tan. Solid aroma! Roasty-toasty-maltiness and all of the aromas that go along with that (coffee, chocolate, etc).

This beer is a wonderful example of a British style brown. Bonus point for using locally sourced malts.

I'm no cicerone, but I thoroughly enjoyed this beer. Again, just the perfect amount of toastiness. Easily quaffable, you'll get a bit of coffee and a bit of cola. Nothing over the top, just a well balanced brew! A great beer for a socially distanced bonfire this autumn.

Pours a nice, plum-hued brown with two fingers of creamy, dark tan head. Decent retention and moderate lacing.

Traditional aroma with coffee, chocolate and toffee notes.

Light chocolate and some underlying fruitiness in the taste. A hint of coffee in the finish. Not quite as robust in the flavor as the nose suggested, but still enjoyable.

Full bodied and creamy for the style with slow-building carbonation.

A well-made, very drinkable brown.
