5/18/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) - Can Notes: Purchased from Beer on the Wall 5/1/24 for $3.41 at store temperature, refrigerated upon returning home until opening. 16 oz canned on 4/2/24 at 10:04. 5.1% ABV, German-Style Pilsner. Lactose-Free, Keep Cold, Drink Fresh. Brewed & packaged by Brothership Brewing LLC, 18781 S. 90th Street, Mokena, Illinois.
Appearance: Golden clear pour, light carbonation after initial pours of a little over half the can into a long slender flute glass. Lacing lumpy with beer receding, creamy clumpy above the base. 3.75
Aroma: Strong sweet buttered corn backed by mineral water and faint grassy notes. 3.25
Taste: Creamy corn and salty cracker, mineral water and grassy aroma notes faint to gone. Sweet and light, strong lower mid tier AAL vibes. 2.75
Mouthfeel: Somewhat flat and bland, drinks very easy alcohol wise. Light crisp body propped up slightly by pillowy carbonation, Sweet corn malt finish. 2.5
Overall: I get a bland corn cracker combo here, will give brewery more tries but likely not this one. 2.75

Canned 3/7/22; drank 4/22/22 @ the Yarchives.
See-through pale yellow appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice, noisy white head; strong, tree-rung lace.
Creamed corn & mild yeast notes in the nose.
Medium thin mouthfeel.
Corn, yeast & faint banana flavors. Refreshing & nice!

Too bad for Brothership that their first review of 5.1 falls to me, the "meh" man of the pils.
But I will say this in the most positive way possible... for a two year old brewer who makes mostly NEIPAs, 5.1 is a good pils.
5.1 Looks average, not much character to the color and even less foam. Smells are mostly muted malt. Tastes balance mostly malt with just enough hops, a nice drying sensation to finish the refreshment. Sits light in my mouth, but I don't expect much more than bubbles from a pils. (Says me the "meh.")
While I want to encourage Mokena and every other Chicagoland suburb to have at least one micro for its proper advancement, BB's website does not give me reason to do that. But, BB is only two years old and it will. Cheers !
