Foeder-lagered Festbier
A German-style Festbier brewed using a single-decoction, Hersbrucker & Tettnang hops, then lagered in an oak foeder for 10 weeks. Toasty, doughy bready malt, herbal-like hops and light oaky accents. Crisp and balanced with a dry, clean finish.

Pours a clear golden yellow, excellent lacing with a good cap of foam and solid retention. Faint aroma with almost nothing on the nose; maybe a slight bit of melon? Taste is tons of noble hop bitterness, very tannic. Slight sweetness initially, but very bitter as it warms; aspirin and Malort, but in a pleasant and refreshing way. Very soft feel with moderate weight. Overall, this one stood out positively in a blind test.

Canned on 9/11/2023; consumed on 1/12/2024
Pours a clear, pure gold body capped with a finger and a half of fluffy, eggshell-white foam; good head retention peaves a half-finger of cap, modest, creamy collar, and a near-comprehensive walling of chunky lacing clinging steadfastly to the walls of the glass.
Aromas of vivid honey wheat bread coat the senses as tones of fresh dough find tinges of peppery subtext; distant caramel malt emerges against an airy florality and taut minerality, while a subtle grassiness calmly closes the bouquet.
Taste offers grass and a touch of honey upfront as bread dough and straw advance over the mid-palate, while minerality phases through the back end and notes of black bread crust linger past the finish.
Mouthfeel brings a light-medium body and choppy prickle of higher carbonation; taut textures casually bitter into the mid-palate, softening to crispness into a dry, quick, and clean finish.
Honeyed vibrance washes over a firmly bready foundation from start to finish, enhancing the already well-lagered subtleties of this crisp, semi-sweet Festbier.

Foeder aged festbier. How could I say no?
Delightfully sharp and sticky festbier, with a nice hoppy pinch at the end. I enjoyed this on tap at the source.
